Bureau van der Weerd advises on issues at the intersection of space, economy and real estate. Particularly in the field of retail real estate, we have built up extensive expertise with a specialization in supermarket locations.

Site survey (VPO).
A site survey maps the feasibility for a (new) retail location.
A study that begins with a thorough market analysis of the area. The supply and demand sides of the market are identified and compared.
Making well-substantiated sales forecasts for supermarkets is one of our areas of expertise. We work ‘data driven’ which means that every sales forecast is well-founded and based on ‘hard’ data. Our data partners are: Locatus, CBS, Whooz, Tensing and 4Orange.
Distribution planning study (DPO).
A DPO is an important part of the spatial justification for a retail location. Supermarket locations are scarce and in demand, and the stakes in planning procedures about supermarket locations are enormous.
A sound needs assessment forms the basis for bringing about a development or stopping an undesirable development. We now have extensive expertise in preparing DPOs for supermarket locations.
When preparing a complete spatial substantiation (zoning or Wabo procedure), we cooperate with specialists in general administrative law and environmental law.
Revenue optimization
The difference between a profitable or loss-making supermarket operation is made locally. This means that optimal understanding of the market area is crucial for a supermarket to maximize revenue potential.
We advise formulas and entrepreneurs on optimizing sales based on ‘hard’ data. An important element is data from customer origin research, which provides insight into the origin of customers and sales.
